The preying mantis has always intrigued and fascinated me. This poem arose from that can’t-look-away brand of obsession. It ever brings to mind a concept introduced to me in the Jeff Goldblum version of the movie, “The Fly” – that of “insect politics.”
There is no such thing.
“Mantis” is my first “poem-on-tube”…the first of many, I hope. “Mantis” is also one of many included in my soon-to-be published book of poetry, stories and images, CREEK SONGS (and Other Seductions). Most of the photos are the work of one Rad Bosselman – graphic designer, sign maker and artiste extraordinaire.
