My name is Scot Simmons. Yes...one "t." I get that alot.
I’m a brand consultant. But not just a brand consultant.
I’m a writer.
(In unison) Hi, Scot.
Yes, a writer. Not just a copywriter. Not just a technical writer. Not just a business writer. My business card reads “Writing • Editing • Branding • Scripting” but that’s not all I do. For the purposes of this blog, I could choose “Storyteller • Thinker • Dreamer • Poet” and still be accurate. I am all of the above…and more. Much, much, more. And while you’re tossing your cookies at the hubris flowing from and around that hackneyed, hockneyed, locoweed statement…don’t lose sight of the point.
You were waiting for the point. The point is, “A rose by any other name…” -- you know the rest. Yes, a writer never balks at quoting Shakespeare and yes, a writer is many things, and yes, that’s the way it should be.
Anyway, I am a writer and I do write ad copy and promotional copy and articles and technical stuff and business collateral and poetry and all kinds of off-the-top-of-my-head stuff like this. I have many interests – from The Dark Knight to Dostoevsky, Masters Swimming to Masterpiece Theatre, cats to castrati, Frodo to Fellini, Addams to advertising, grammar to Gillespie. (Dizzy, that is.)
This penchant for the diverse comes in real handy in my function as a brand consultant. I know about a lot of things. I can converse intelligently on a number of subjects. And although I still occasionally consult a dictionary when I reread “To Kill a Mockingbird” (Who doesn’t?) I have a pretty strong vocabulary as well. Consequently, I am a quick study on just about anything (number things excluded). I can feel and deal the buzz pretty readily and that has a tendency to take some of the burden of direction/explanation/interrogation off the shoulders of my client. All good.
I want to share things and thoughts and ideas with other writers and dreamers and poets and professionals out there. So how about it? Talk to me.
Steve McQueen was not only one of the coolest actors, he always played himself in the role. He was also a local Ventura County resident. He maintained a small plane at the Santa Paula airport. Had a house on the beach at County Line near Neptune’s Net.
Scot, I remember the auction of his car also, I believe it sold over a million $.

I am a friend of John Maldanado. John asked me to send you my email address so that we might be able to talk about your graphic novel/script.
Please feel free to contact me either by email, or telephone at (818) 521-5675.
I work in the industry, but my reason for contacting you is I am an artist/illustrator.
